Transformation. It seems to be the order of the day at Ornament Studio, and for good reason.
Using old materials, tired or damaged rings for instance, to create something new makes perfect sense. It is often the jewelry that has the greatest significance or sentimental value that we end up storing away when it becomes weathered, broken or simply out of fashion. Not only can reviving this into something new give it added pizzazz, but it also allows us to reconnect with cherished memories and to begin to create new memories for that special piece of art we may later pass unto a child or sibling. Jewelry can be an anchor for our stories.
Recently, a client brought Silvio a 14 karat white gold channel-set ring. 10 diamonds were nestled within the channel. Silvio was asked to make a replica of the ring in yellow gold. We got a glimpse of this project in a previous article. The client also brought a single-diamond white gold band for Silvio to make a similar, but more substantial yellow band. The work is complete.
