Little Hands – Creative St. Patrick’s Day Fun

As we look forward to longer days, more sunshine and blooming trees, St. Patrick’s Day provides a good opportunity for some creative fun.

In fact, St. Patrick’s Day as something in common with spring: green. This is a good theme to inspire art projects to do with the children.

We’ve done a bit of research and came across several projects to share. Here are links to three favorites. Feel free to share pictures on our Facebook page if you choose to indulge in any of these colorful, season-inspired crafts.

This first one actually makes us want to stop everything and play: Lucky Poppers, from DIY Studio. “These aren’t just any confetti poppers, they’re lucky ones!… Instead of pinching someone on St. Patrick’s Day, because they’re not wearing green, …just crack one of these over top their head for a hefty dose of good Irish luck!

This next craft project also involves play, and one of the supplies you’ll need is sweet and edible. How great is that?! Learn how to make an Edible Matching Game, from Craft Foxes. “Really, everyone wins in this game since (win or lose)  you get to eat the pieces afterwards!

Finally, a truly unique take on St. Patrick’s crafts: Shamrock Sprouts, from Housing A Forest. Yes. Grow a shamrock. This sounds like a great project to fight cabin fever; even for grown-ups. “The kids loved watching their sprouts, and they thought it was interesting that seeds could grow without soil,” observes the author.

Each of these links will take you to craft pages that are well designed and family friendly. There, you will find many other creative projects to last through any season of the year. As for St. Patrick’s Day projects, they are certain to bring good fortune in the form of great fun. Enjoy.
