Snowflakes & Flowers

In Autumn, we rediscover the wide spectrum of colors from nature’s palette. Can you imagine the transition from summer to winter without this burst of colors? The vibrancy and colors of fall nourish us, in some ways, so that we can face winter with hope.

A while back, we added glass blown flowers from New Mexico to our selection. Their fluid colors captured our attention, and yours, instantly. These can make a great accent at this time of year. This week, we’ve added a display of colorful earrings that are just in time for the coming season.

These snowflake earrings are the creation of Michael DeCorte, a California designer based in Bali. He employs local artisans in his fair trade shop. Their work is intricate and beautiful.

“Michael has visited over the past two years and I’ve sold a few pieces for him over time,” explains Silvio. “He recently asked if I’d be interested in these earrings and, of course, the answer was yes. They are individually hand-etched in copper. The equipment his artisans use is rudimentary compared to what we have here, but their work is impressive. These are very well made.”

Is it ever too early to think about stocking stuffers? Each set is $20 and can be converted to pendants easily; one to keep and one to give away perhaps!
