This Spring has brought many repair jobs to the workbench. It is also a time to replenish displays and Silvio has been working on three sets of drop earrings for his Santa Fe client. As usual, inevitably, projects overlap. Everything must find its place and time in the most efficient manner and everything most flow continually.
The mind jumps from one project to the other, on demand. It keeps an inventory of overlapping projects, mentally developing one design while working on another. The mind becomes the backdrop to a series of moving pictures, each creating its assigned story, while simultaneously remaining completely focused on the project at hand. It can be exhausting and Silvio was about to walk away for a few short minutes, to take refreshing walk in the rain.
Unlike many conventional drop earrings, these have a loop at the top, rather than a post or French wire. This provides extra versatility since it can be secured to a simple loop earring. The loop earring can remain unchanged. One simply slips on the desired drop earrings from a selection of designs, depending on the mood of the day.
22 and 18 karat gold was used for the settings. The gems are vasonite, also known as vesuvianite. And this leaves us with a topic for a future article!
