Friday, 3:30. A cheerful customer walks in. “How did your daughter like the earrings?” asks Silvio. “She just loves them,” is the response; an elongated “looooove” to stress the depth of the sentiment.
“In fact, I’m here on a mission,” continues the customer. My daughter showed the earrings to her cousin so now her cousin wants some too. I’m here to take a few pictures of what you have that is similar so I can show them.”
Silvio pulls a display pf earrings from the case and begins to arrange a few selected pairs of pearl earrings on a blue, velvet pad as he explains, “These are natural pearls so they are more expensive. These are farmed pearls, this is why the price is different. natural pearls require diving and more of a process to get them.
The customer snaps a few shots. She knows exactly what she is looking for and soon walks away, repeating, “She looooooves them.”
Meanwhile, Silvio had just finished setting the Garnet, Opals and Labradorites in 22 karat gold earrings. These are going to Santa Fe, where he does contract work for The Golden Eye, a very well-known shop amongst artisans and collectors of fine and unique jewelry.
