Snap Shot No. 16

Monday, 3:45. In the previous article, Silvio gave us a glimpse of a new ring he had begun to design. It will be cast in white gold using the lost wax method. A champagne diamond, two rubies and two pink tourmalines will give this ring its unique character.

“I used to do my own casting,” recalls Silvio, “But it requires a lot of space, time and equipment. For now, with the children and a smaller space, I have found a Vermont casting company that does that for me. Teresa brought this wax to Ace Casting, in Colchester, today. It will be cast in 14-karat white gold. They do a great job. They cast precious and non-precious metals for sculptors and jewelers.”

“I miss casting though and Teresa is extremely good at it. She did absolutely beautiful casting… This ring should be ready for Jenn Rowe to pick up next week. Jenn and her husband own and operate Peak Electric, right here in Jeffersonville.”

Meanwhile, opal earrings and a smithsonite pendant in a 22-karat yellow gold setting are taking shape on the workbench.
